Pondering on Digital Cameras

The digital camera that I bought is the Canon EOS Digital Rebel.  And I absolutely love it!  I'm almost hesitant to say that I've had zero problems with it, because I don't want to jinx the thing, especially since it's over 5 years old.  But the truth is, I've taken it all over the world in a variety of climates and altitudes completely problem free.

I own two other digital cameras:  the one in my iPhone and an inexpensive little Samsung HD Digital video camera.  But for this post, I'm not really counting them as anywhere near on the same level as my Canon Rebel.  Wikipedia has a decent article if you want some good background education and discussion on this topic.  That might be a good idea if you're considering which model or brand is right for you.  Check it out by clicking on the link DIGITAL CAMERA.  I am neither qualified or desirous of even attempting to tell someone which digital camera is right for them.  That's just not my gig.

What's not to like about digital cameras?

What I am going to tell you is why I like mine.  I purchased it based upon the sole recommendation of my adult son.  He has quite the artist's eye and is wired to easily relate and function with things technical and complicated.  I am not.  And he knows that about me.  When I informed him that I wanted to step up and get me a decent digital camera, he offered to join me and help me get the right one for me.

I wanted...actually needed is probably more accurate...a camera that I could quickly ready for automatic shots but also something I could learn more about and play with.  I wanted something that had a comfortable feel when I held it.  I needed a camera that was not too complicated and one that lent itself toward easy uploading using software that was simple.  His recommendation, my selection, has been everything I could have asked for and more.

Whether is handing it off to a restaurant host to get a shot or two of the family at Christmas dinner or grabbing it and quickly changing the lens to capture the marlin on the line 100 feet away, the results have proven spectacular for my needs.  I'm not a professional photographer by any means.  But some of the shots I've managed to get look mighty close.

You know, for me I was more interested in having a camera that would allow me to get good clean shots with ease.  Then I wanted to be able to share those with family and friends, especially since we are all more dispersed geographically than we've ever been.  That's exactly what's happened.  If I'm in a group, I have no problems adjusting the settings to auto and telling people to grab the camera and get a shot...that I'll send it to them later.  I like it this way, that I've got a good digital camera, yet one that I can readily share with someone else who does not have to be intimidated by it.

Digital Cameras stops the clock from ticking

Like I said earlier, this isn't about me making a recommendation to you about which digital camera you should get if that's what you came here for.  However, based upon my experience with mine, if you don't know what you're looking for, then consider the one I got cause I love it.  It has captured some of the best moments of my life in the last 5 or so years, too. Indeed, digital cameras make wonders in our lives!
