Black Decker Battery Charger Instructions
The Black Decker Battery Charger is an electric battery charger that plugs into a power outlet and charges your automobile battery. The Smart Battery Charger has three different charge settings (2, 4 or 6 amp) depending on the size of the battery. The charger takes only a few minutes to set up, and after a few hours your car's battery will be fully charged and ready to operate.

The Smart Battery Charger(just like the charger for ryobi battery) has the same safety precautions as when you are jump starting the battery with another car. Make sure you know which of the battery posts is the positive polarity and which is the negative. On most batteries, the positive polarity post has a larger diameter, is covered in a red sheath and has a "+" molded into the top of the battery. Connect the red clamp of the charger to the positive polarity pole. Connect the black clamp of the charger to a heavy gauge metal away from the battery, such as the engine block or the automobile chassis.
Plug the Smart Battery Charger into a 120 volt power outlet. Check for any indicator lights on the front of the charger. If "Fault" is lit, there is a problem with the connection. Unplug the charger and reconnect the charger to the battery. If "Rev." lights, the clamps are connected to the wrong polarity pole. Unplug the charger and switch the clamps so that they are on the correct polarity poles.

Once the charger is connected you are ready to charge the battery. Press the "Charge Rate Selector" button to choose the charge rate setting. The Smart Battery Charger has three charge settings: 2 amps for small batteries, 4 amps for midsize batteries and 6 amps for larger batteries. The first time you press the "Charge Rate Selector" button the 2 amps setting is active. The second press sets 4 amps, and the third press sets 6 amps. The Smart Battery Charger will monitor the setting you input and the actual size of the battery to determine if your setting is too fast or slow for your battery. The charger will shut off if the setting is inaccurate.
The battery for ryobi may take up to 14 hours to charge, depending on the amount of charge in the battery and the charge setting you are using. You should not turn on the car when the charger is running as it may damage the battery and the charger. Once the battery is fully charged, the "Full" indicator light will turn on. Unplug the charger, disconnect the black clamp from the car and then disconnect the red clamp from the battery.
