Digital Cameras – The Art Which Changed the World
Photography is an interesting subject. Though, photography has much developed as a profession and as a hobby, not much was known at the time when camera was first developed in the year 1814 by Joseph Nicephore Niepce. Though the first photograph of world was not permanent and soon faded, the later-on stages proved to be better. With better technologically equipped cameras, photography became an art.
Cameras, as mentioned above, which were developed in the year 1814, took a new age development with Kodak. The simple Box Camera, developed by Kodak was an instant best seller, just like a book - with its very first launch. Then came the TSR and LSR – Twin lens reflex cameras and Single reflex cameras which flooded the market for a long long duration.
TSR and LSR’s were subsequently replaced by instant and automated cameras which were better not only in terms of technology but also good in their output. Hence, these were much easily absorbed by the market and got circulated like anything. Finally, these were replaced by upgraded digital cameras which are used everywhere today.
The first digital camera which recorded photos or images as computerized files was Fuji DS – 1P, the model launched in the year 1988. It used 16MB of internal memory card which used a battery to keep the images in the memory. Today’s digital cameras are however much better and far improved than the ones found in the year 1988.

"New" DSLR camera has over 300 pics????
Picked up a brand new Nikon D40x. It looked new with no fingerprints etc. However when I downloaded the first pic it said the shutter had already fired/released over 300times.
Could this have been a quality check from Nikon or is this camera a lemon or demo?

Your first pic should be dscn_0001 or something similar. If the factory does any testing--which is unlikely considering the number they produce..the counter would be reset to 0.
Sounds like you got a return or dealer demo. Hopefully you bought from a reputable authorized retailer and can return for a new camera--which you bought and paid for. Don't let the dealer convince you otherwise.
