How important are mega pixels to you?
Is 7.1 mega pixels junk now or is that a good amount?
I see where 12 is available, but does an average person need that much?
Not to me... but then I UNDERSTAND what it means and, how its mostly a waste.
You can print a very nice 4x6 or 5x7 photo with an image of only 640x480. If you want to print 8x10 then a 1024x768 image works quite well.
The only reason for photographing in those HUGE mega-pixel sizes is, if you are photographing for MAGAZINE COVERS or POSTERS... because you need enough digital information to print either that large or in that precision...
BUT... for most of the photos people take, a 1024x768 image is MORE than sufficient.
