How much is my old Sony Video Camera worth? [ccd-v8af, hi-8 film]?

I have an old Sony video camera, the ccd-v8af, which uses hi-8 film. It seems pretty good, but the batteries are uncharged and there is no way to get the video to a vcr. I need to speng about $35 on a battery charger (which are around), and get a multi-connector, RFU-80c or something - a part that is no longer manufactured, and eBayers want $100 for. I will not spend $140 to get my hi-8 camera working, but does it have a value? I saw one sold for $40 and another being offered at $110. Thanks!

If it makes a difference to you, this is NOT a Hi8 video camera. It is the very second model of video8 camcorder made by Sony in 1985. the original CCD-V8 did not have auto focus. the auto focus on your model worked so poorly than most users shut it off and focused manually.

Hi8 tape can be put in any camera of the video8 series, but that does not improve the resolution of the camera! This camera has a 250k CCD imager. Sony acquired CCD technology by trading to Ampex their Betacam broadcast tape design. The first video8 cameras were made by Kodak, but they still had the older tube imager. Sony used CCD in the model number to give emphasis to the improvement.

your camera is totally obsolete as an operating video device. The prices of $50 - $100 is because it is becoming a collectable.
