Wty Battery

Has anyone been told by HP that batteries were covered under an extended warranty, in 2006 or after?

October 2006 a month after I purchased a HP laptop, I was called by HP to try to sell me an extended warranty. They stated that batteries were covered. So I purchased the HP 22W - UPGRADE WRTY TO PICKUP & RETURN WTY 3 YR. I never received any paper work , just an email confirmation, so I do not have any proof.
Now HP says batteries are not covered. Has this happened to anyone else? Or does anyone have written proof that in 10/2006 batteries were covered?

Well, considering lithium ion batteries degrade constantly from the time they are manufactured, and they ALL GO bad with date - and is sped up considerably by use - no extended warrenties are here. Certainly within a period of a year. Maybe extended to 2, but beyond that......no way, unless it's like a super expensive warrenty well above the battery cost.

Now, you can call your credit card company (or bank) and find the charge for the warrenty. Then you can call HP and request information on that charge. (ie: getting the paperwork) Of course, it will say, not battery.

What probably happened is either lying on the phone (someone wanting their quota), miscommunication, or something you assumed over the phone that was not the case. That's the problem with phone.

Ideally, this would have been something you did just after the charge, during a time you could refute it, but that's the way things go. The time to talk about paperwork, to ensure what was discussed on the phone is true, is briefly after the payment, and if they do not conform and send you the information you request, denying the charge or having them refund it. (or, preferably, before, ie: send me something in the mail, I'll look at it, then I'll call YOU and pay, or website, I'll print it/save it, or e-mail, I'll print it/save it)

Especially where things like insurance, warrenties and the such are concerned from trusted sources.
